Hajj Badal (Proxy Hajj)

What it is
Hajj done on behalf of a person who cannot go. Reasons: death, old age, permanent illness.
Proof: Quran 3:97, 2:196. Bukhari 1754. Abu Dawud 1811. Ibn Majah 2903.

Fiqh notes
Ibn Baz: Hajj for the deceased fulfills the fard. The doer also gets reward.
Salih Al-Fawzan: Benefits for the dead include du’a, istighfar, sadaqah, Hajj, Umrah, and paying debts.
